Best “mid-size” android phone with top performance! Almost perfect
Samsung released 4 new smartphones on the 20th of february, the S10 series (S10/S10+/S10e) and the foldable Galaxy Fold. The S10 and the S10+ are great phones in every aspect (read it here), but there little sibling is just as good as them.
Design / Display
Well, the first thing what you notice is that the Galaxy S10e doesn’t have Samsungs Edge display, rather a normal flat one. There is a hole on the top right corner which is the selfie camera (more about it later), and it has a screen-to-body ratio of 83%. All around is metal frame and Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides. It comes in Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Green, Prism Blue, Canary Yellow and Flamingo Pink.
Unlike the other ones, it doesn’t have a Quad HD+ display, instead a 5.8” Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O Display with (2280×1080) 438 ppi and HDR10+ certified. Brightness is 1200nit which is great, also during sunshine. However there is a small frame around the screen, that’s because the lack of “Edge” style. The colours are correct, it is sharp, so Samsung proved again that they are the best in terms of displays.
We are living in 2019, where top-notch smartphones can only compete with a 7 or 8nm chipset. There are two different models of the S10e, one is with the new Snapdragon 855 7nm, the other is with an Exynos 9820. Both of them has 25-30% better CPU, and 35-37% GPU performance. Paired with 8 GB RAM (256GB storage) or 6 GB RAM (128GB). Fingerprint reader is not Ultrasonic like the others in the series, it is placed on the right side integrated into the power button (great place also, very fast and easy to reach. And of course the S10e is secured by Knox (Samsungs Security Software).
Samsung Galaxy S10e has three cameras, one on the front and two on the back (S10/S10+ two on the front and three on the back).
Main Camera system
- 12 MP, f/1.5-2.4, 26mm (wide), 1/2.55″, 1.4µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS (same as Note 9)
- 16 MP, f/2.2, 12mm (ultrawide), 1.0µm
- 10 MP, f/1.9, 26mm (wide), 1.22µm, Dual Pixel PDAF
Last years Samsung flagship, the Note 9 is capable of taking beautiful videos and photos, as well as the S10e. Ultra slow motion videos can now last 0.8 sec, and portrait mode also included. The main camera is the same, however now the secondary lens is an ultra wide camera with 123 degrees field of view. It’s great for panoramas and also for group photos and landscapes. It lacks the monochrome camera, so it hasn’t got a 2x optical zoom. Video recording supports 2160p@60fps, 1080p@240fps, 720p@960fps, HDR mode and also dual-video rec.
Samsung Galaxy S10e the best “mid-size” phone, and also it has the best performance in the market within Android phones next to its siblings. This is our favourite phone this year yet. It could be the best choice for customers with smaller hands. Dex mode is also supported which is great, so all over this phone is just about perfection.
