Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition

Why you need a Dual Display? It’s easy! It’s cooler than a notch!

Vivo was the first company who came out with an in screen fingerprint reader, and now they are the first who removed the selfie camera from it’s smartphone! The second screen is of course on the back, and used for taking selfies or photos. However, it can be a touchpad, and during gaming you can have two trigger for aiming and shooting for example.

Design/Display

Vivo Nex DDE is just like any other Vivo phones, but now with an almost full display on the front without a notch. It is impressive, how big the “undisturbed” screen really is when you hold it in your hand. Now it only comes in a Polar Blue color.

The main display is a 6.39-inch 1080×2340 Super AMOLED, and the rear one is a 5,49-inch 1080×1920 panel. Both looks pretty impressive.

Hardware

Well, what is the recipe of a top performance phone? More RAM, AMOLED screen, a good camera system, newest processor, big battery and more RAM of course. Vivo took all these and integrated in its phone. Now it has 10GB of RAM, 128GB storage, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and a triple camera system. The battery is 3500mAh, and Vivo promises “more than a day” battery life.

Camera

  • 12MP Dual-Pixel (Sony IMX363 sensor and 4-axis OIS)
  • Specialized night Video Camera
  • Innovative TOF 3D camera (used for 3D sensing and 3D portraits)

Vivo also added a flash of course, but around the 2 main camera there is a LED ring, which can be used as a flash for selfies. Really good idea, we won’t get blind after the flash while taking a selfie.

Conclusion

In terms of hardware, Vivo did everything to make this phone top notch, instead of the camera system which stays a  little bit bellow under the top smartphones. The LED ring is a great idea, as well as the secondary screen. Sadly it lacks a waterproof rating, but in all over it’s a great phone for a price of just under 1000$.
