Last year Xiaomi gave us an amazing value Pocophone, a Mi8 with transparent back, Mi Mix 3, and now they are here with one of the fastest android phones, the Mi9.
Well, the Xiaomi Mi9 has the most acceptable notch we have ever seen. It’s like a water drop on the top of the screen with one camera inside. It doesn’t have sensors or anything else, just the camera and that’s it. The back is a Holographic glass designed to fit in your palm perfectly.
The front is covered by a 6.39” Samsung AMOLED display, with 90.7% screen-to-body ratio, with resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels (403 ppi), so it gives you a sharp and colourful experience with HDR10 support. Gorilla Glass 6 is responsible for protecting the screen.
Inside the Xiaomi Mi9 we can see the newest 7nm Snapdragon 855, paired with two versions of storage 6/8 GB RAM & 64/128GB storage. It has almost the same benchmarks as the Samsung S10+, so the one the best performer on the market right now. In some cases, with its specially designed turbo technologies, it could higher performance. Wireless charging is faster than ever before with the first 20W wireless quick charger. There is also a 27W fast wired charger, biggest in the industry. It promises full charge in just 90 minutes, which is as fast as a wired charger almost. However, the battery is a bit smaller than competitors, it is ‘just” has 3300mAh.

Sony’s new 48MP lens is the biggest resolution camera sensor in a phone, and it gives you amazingly sharp pictures, and the possibility to zoom in a bit. It also gives you 3 times the light sensitivity than a regular phone. Also 10x hybrid zoom is added, but that comes with lower quality. There is a new mode called “Moon mode”, which can take pretty good photos of the moon. We don’t know why is it important, but sure instagram will be full of it. Moreover there is now OIS, which is sad, and un understandable.
The secondary camera is a 16MP sensor with ultrawide 117 degrees fov. Ultrawide lenses are becoming more and more popular, and they are really useful for landscapes and group photos.
Well, Xiaomi’s new flagship is a top performer android phone. With the 48MP sensor and the AI support it can take some amazing photos, even with the lack of the OIS. Despite the top performance and amazing camera system, the phone has a relatively small battery, and lack of IP rating (no waterproofing). Except these the display is just as good on Samsungs (maybe because it is), so all over the Xiaomi Mi9 is a great phone for as low as 500$.
